I love a good cookbook. But, I’m very picky about what I put on my shelf. Like I mentioned in my recent post about my favorite perfumes, I like to stick to my essentials.
When it comes to food, I tend to lean towards balanced, healthier recipes, with of course the occasional (well, more than occasional) baked good or dessert. The cookbooks I have listed below are for the avid chef who loves to cook great food using more simple, straightforward recipes.

I discovered Tieghan’s recipes when quarantine started here in California and turn to her culinary wisdom for almost everything! The HBH collection has an assortment of gorgeous and delicious foods that can be created in just a short amount of time. You can find her other HBH book: Super Simple.

I’d be pretty surprised if you haven’t heard of Joanna’s Magnolia Table brand! Her cookbooks are brimming with enjoyable recipes that are so easy to make and have a very homey feel to them. Check out her second volume here.

Andrea’s book is filled with nourishing recipes, amazing flavors and down-to-earth feels. I crack open this cookbook when I’m looking for some of the best veggie recipes. She’s about to launch her second cookbook: Local Dirt.

The best “treat yourself” cookbook I’ve found to date! The recipes enclosed are great for hosting, and for when no one is focused on counting calories and everyone just wants to enjoy good food. She also has another volume: Hungry for More.

I highly recommend checking out the research behind Blue Zones. This cookbook builds off of it by gathering the scientifically healthiest foods in the world and compiling them into delicious recipes. Just a disclaimer: some of the ingredients may be a little harder to find, but that’s what this book is about!
