This weekend was definitely one for the books. I threw a surprise 24th birthday brunch for one of my best friends, Holly, and it was a huge success!
Waking up extra early to spend four hours in the kitchen may seem like a chore to most, but I thought it was so much fun; cooking for fifteen people is a challenge I’ll take on any day!
The morning was spent munching on hor d’oeuvres and sipping orange and grapefruit mimosas with friends and family.
Everyone enjoyed smoked salmon and cucumber bites, goat cheese-stuffed mushrooms, prosciutto-wrapped melons and avocado toast crostinis.
The biggest hit of all was the lemon poppyseed cake that we had for dessert. Having never baked nor decorated a cake before, I’d say the final result turned out pretty well!
